Robert and Joseph Purvis
Robert and Joseph Purvis come from one of the wealthiest African-American families from the time. Them, along with their cousin, James Vogelsang Forten, attended New York Central College in large part because they were one of the few families able to afford it. Although Robert and Joseph's short lives are tragic, both of their parents were able to thrive as successful abolitionists with wealth. This exhibit will be talking about the lives that Robert and Joseph led, as well as the success of their parents.
