Cook At College

Once the school was opened in 1849 John Francis Cook was one of the first students in attendance. In four years he had completed the prepatory program, and moved onto Oberlin College with his brother. One year after their time at Oberlin College they left and moved back to Washington D.C. due to the untimly death of their father. John Francis Cook Jr's time at Central College was very different compared to most. Due to his fathers succesful career in education, John Francis's circumstances were different from most. He came into the college as a freed black whos family came from realtive weath.
