Robert Purvis Jr.

Robert Purvis Jr was born in 1834, in Pennsylvania. After completing his time at New York Central College, Robert returned home and became a merchant. Robert did not have to face much racism in his life as he was a very light-skinned African-American, however, he witnessed it when his friends were not allowed to enter a building because of the color of their skin. Once Robert Purvis Sr. found out about the incident, he attempted to sue law enforcement, however, it was an unsuccessful attempt. Unfortunately, there is not much else on Robert Jr. as he would die at the age of 28 due to turburculosis. The date of his death was March 19th, 1862.
